A Bit About Me

I had been away from school for twenty-six years, when I went back to college to earn my degrees. I am glad to have achieved and AA and BA in only three years. I laughed when one of the instructors told me I was an ‘Artist” and that fact could be a little bit of a disadvantage when I went out in the employment market. It caused me to think. Artists usually make their money after they die. Now that isn’t what I had in mind. Still I put that thought aside and went about my everyday life taking care of our loved ones.

I have written stories and drawn pictures for friends and family forever. I sewed clothes since the 6th grade for myself and then for my family. Quilted dozens of blankets. Crochet afghans, hats and booties and even made some snugglies clowns for the grandkids to help keep them in high-chairs. I have made my own candles, which is a really messy experience, but the candles are so delightful. I have carved wooden toys, puzzles and even made a lot of wooden cars for the kids.
I love to write and draw. I have been doing this since I first started school. I have on my shelves so many books I made for my grandkids to read when they are here. But it wasn’t until this year, I finally got brave enough to have one of my books published.

I finished doing the illustrations to go with the writing and sent it off. The process seemed to take forever. I can related it to the 9th month of pregnancy which last at least three days longer than one hopes. But in June of 2010 I had in my hands, my first book. Written and Illustrated by me. I have accomplished something others hoped I would do. So many folks said, your stories are wonderful, children will love them because we do already. A friend of mine wrote a review about my book which made me even wish to read it. I am waiting for the copy of book number two to arrive. Perhaps by Christmas 2010. And no it will not stop there. Book number 3 is written Stories in the Park, Cranium City Revisited. Inker and Quill tell some of their adventures. I am working on the illustrations. I have another book that Phillip and I wrote a mystery called Woods Cove. Perhaps one day it too will be in the world for others to read.
Well – that’s me. A slightly over achiever with lots of irons in the fire.

hope to see you reading lots of adventures…

as always MelInda
